Types of Hormone Therapy

Testosterone

Though generally thought to be a “male” hormone, optimal testosterone levels are vital in both men and women. In fact, a woman will naturally produce more testosterone than estradiol over her lifetime. Testosterone has many benefits in both men and women, including:

  • Heart health, cognitive function, weight management, and sexual health and desire for both men and women

  • Protection against heart disease, stroke, and heart attacks

  • Improved focus, memory, brain fog, and sleep

  • It is vital in the development and maintenance of muscle mass and, for women, in the prevention of osteoporosis.

Testosterone therapy is available in various methods to suit each individual’s needs. Total Vitality utilizes bioidentical testosterone therapy via injections, creams, and pellets based on each individual’s needs and preferences.

Estradiol

Estradiol is an important hormone for both men and women.

  • It is important for bone health and has also been shown to be cardiovascular and brain-protective.

  • Sub-optimal estradiol levels can contribute to hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, decreased libido, and mood swings

  • Estradiol forms naturally in men and does not require supplementation.

  • Supplementation is, however, vital for postmenopausal and some perimenopausal women.

Total Vitality offers bioidentical via creams or pellets.

Progesterone

Optimal progesterone levels are important for all women's health.

  • It is important in uterine, vaginal, breast, bone, blood, and brain health in women regardless of what stage of life they are in.

  • Naturally produced progesterone is shown to help protect against breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers and osteoporosis.

  • Suboptimal progesterone levels may contribute to sleep issues, anxiety, depression, and PMS symptoms.

Total Vitality offers a bioidentical, micronized progesterone in the form of a capsule.

Thyroid

Thyroid imbalances are fairly common, yet often go undiagnosed to the ambiguous symptoms that can occur

  • Common symptoms of an underactive thyroid, or hypothyroid, include cold hands/feet, weight gain, depression, and constipation.

  • Common symptoms of an overactive thyroid, or hyperthyroid, include excessive sweating, weight loss, anxiety, and diarrhea

  • Other symptoms for these imbalances can mimic symptoms of stress, hormone imbalance, and aging.

  • On top of these vague symptoms, traditionally, when you get your thyroid checked, you are not getting a true, complete, thyroid panel, which is vital to the diagnosis.

Luckily this is something that the Total Vitality medical team is experienced. We will work with you to determine if thyroid treatment is an appropriate part of your treatment plan.

“The team at Total Vitality are like no other. They are kind and compassionate, knowledgeable and proactive. I didn’t realize how bad I felt until I had my hormones optimized- now I feel amazing!”
